Found Treasure ft. The Grace Club Podcast

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.”

Matthew 13:44-46

Growing up poor, surrounded by alcoholism, drug addiction, and crime – could damage a person. I had not known anything else. I had never known of people who lived peaceful and uninterrupted lives. Not until my estranged older cousin and I spoke. I recall my reaction when she shared that she had never gotten into a fistfight. I was in total shock.

My perspective and life did not change until I began working as a security officer for a university. Because of the university’s international program, I became exposed to all kinds of people and their beautiful cultures. It was there that I encountered true Disciples of Jesus Christ from student-led organizations and local churches. Many of which were eager to study the Bible with me.

Surprisingly, studying the Bible at 21 and getting baptized at 23 sprung forth great change within my life and the lives of my family. God has since done incredible things even within this challenging year. After a broken engagement, my father passed away unexpectedly.

The anger and hurt, alone, almost convinced me that God had forgotten my family and me. BUT THAT IS NOT SO! God has remembered me even in my suffering. For the past few days, I was finally able to spend time with my younger cousin, Avante. He and I have not seen one another face to face for almost two years. When I moved to Nashville, he went off to serve in the Army.

Avante and I were able to share our testimonies and bask in God’s presence in prayer. We managed to record a new podcast episode for The Grace Club’s podcast. It is there that he gets open about why he chose to go into the Army and how He has encountered Jesus in recent times.

The conversation on Episode 16: “Found Treasure,” truly has blessed my heart. It was a reminder that God is still faithful. God has not forgotten us. If God has not forgotten us -even after you hear about lives before Christ- then He has not forgotten about you.

Listen to our new podcast episode today. Let us know what you think of the conversation within the comment section. We’d love to hear from you.

May the LORD, my God move powerfully in your hearts.

Grace & Peace to you.

"Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: Come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: It is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, And into his courts with praise: Be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; And his truth endureth to all generations." - Psalm 100:1-5 KJV
